iPhone 5 back camera is black (not working)

I got my daughter a (used) iPhone 5 off of swappa.com for Christmas.
Low and behold the camera is not working on it... front camera is, but not the main rear camera.

When you go into the camera app, it's just showing black and will not snap a picture. Even with instagram install, the only camera it shows as available is the front facing camera.

Running latest iOS version. Tried restore through iTunes (god that is a long process). Nothing working.

Dead camera?
 
I actually saw that same article about pressing in the camera. The camera lens looks flush like in the before picture, but I Can not get it to slide in at all like the after picture.

I've contacted the seller on swappa.com (100s of feedback) and they suggested doing a restore via iTunes which I did but to no avail. They did say that they would replace or refund.. but of course now they aren't responding.

Needless to say, my 11yr old daughter isn't too excited about all this.
 
I'm supposedly getting a replacement/refund from the seller on swappa. Has been unresponsive for 2 days though. Swappa staff is on them. They have 100s of feedback so I can't believe they'd sacrifice that for this
