Here is a great write up comparing the 4S to the G II. Both phones are toe to toe, but for the things i personally look for, the iPhone 4S wins. Its unknown right now which has the faster CPU and GPU - but i suspect the iPhone is faster. Epic games released Infinity Blade II, and they claimed it will ONLY run on the iPhone. Dont be fooled by specs, ghz isnt the only thing that matters. Lets wait for the Anandtech review to see which has more computing power.

Specs mean next to zero with regards to the iPhone. It's a device heavily integrated with the hardware, where Android has to accommodate for desperate hardware.

Infinity Blade II will only run on the iPhone because Epic do not want to see it running poorly on anything but small a handful of current Android and WP7 phones. It would probably run fine on the GS2 or NP, if Epic specifically targeted the hardware.

I wouldn't doubt that if on paper the Galaxy S II and Nexus Prime have better hardware. At the end of the day a minimal spec lead is just bragging rights.

With reports that the Prime is going to be $300 under contract plus be a huge huge phone (too big for my tastes), I am seriously considering going with the iPhone 4S despite being an Android fan/user. Anyone else getting turned off by Prime?

The iPhone 4S with the same 32gb storage as the Nexus will be the same $300. Without LTE.

It's true that only Apple is making high-end phones with small screens, though. Personally I'd like the even bigger Note...

I don't know about the galaxy sii in general; but the sprint version has serious reception issues (weak antennae for phone/3g/4g). If the nexus prime doesn't do better here I'll definitely pass. Anyone know if the gsm version of the galaxy 2 (t-mobile/at&t) has better reception ?

$300 under contract is pretty normal for high end smartphones and has been for a while.

Really? Can you tell me some phones that are $300 under contract, besides the iPhone (which is only $300 if you purposely upgrade the storage)?

1st place i looked for one as they don't have dummy phones on display. Like you they didn't have it at my AT&T store also. Went to Bestbuy they had it but was a dummy phone. Stopped by Samsclub for something else and checked in the wireless area and they also had one but it's a dummy phone. Walked out with the SGS2 from Samsclub tho as they had it for $148 plus tax ($162 total) w/contract ext. I wanted to play with one first also but figured with the return policy at Samsclub I'd be safe. 30day no restock for refund/exchange with reinstatement of upgrade eligability if needed. Seems to live up to the hype for me at least.

Both the Charge and the Bionic released at $300 with contract. I suspect the Thunderbolt would have too (was $250 instead) if it hadn't been so epically late.

It's just Verizon's LTE tax... Btw, the Bionic is now 1c at Amazon. Somebody's expecting big things tomorrow.

That's been Verizon's stance on all their LTE phones. Sprint did $250 for the original Epic at first and T-Mobile is going around 250ish for a couple of phones too.

Yet at&t has released a few phones for $99. The Galaxy S2 is still up there, but still pretty surprising to see a company have decent phones for $99.
