Anyone having iPhone 4S battery problems?

I'm about to install iOS 5.0.1 beta. I'll report back if it fixes the problem

iOS 5.0.1 beta contains improvements and other bug fixes including:
Fixes bugs affecting battery life
Adds Multitasking Gestures for original iPad
Resolves bugs with Documents in the Cloud
Improves voice recognition for Australian users using dictation
Contains security improvements

Why is that?

I am btw ;)

Probably so you can install the beta.

I don't have MAJOR gripes with the battery. It doesn't really last me a day when I use it a lot, but I don't expect it to. I also work from home so being near a charger on a regular day is real easy.

On the weekends my car has USB ports in it that will charge the phone. I've yet to come extremely close to running out of battery. I'm pretty proactive about it.

Then again with my blackberry I never had to think about it really. Was pretty nice, but I use this thing WAYYY more.

I do miss my BlackBerry Bold 9700. I am a dev ;)

It seems to drain quicker than my 3G but I don't think it actually does. Can handle 6hr of movie playback when I cycled the battery. It's the f-ing GPS/location services that really hits it.

There's a big thread in MD&G forum on the 4S battery glitch. Apple seems to be handling this is a little better than previous iPhone 'glitches', acknowledging the problem and moving quickly to fix it. Much better than their previous policies of blame the users and ignore it.

For better or worse, 5.0.1 does fix some other issues with 5.0 release, namely websites crashing randomly.

I can't tell whether the battery is better or worse, though. Perhaps it only affects 4S users?

The iPhone 4S has a clear gain in battery life. The iPhone 4 not so noticeable. Also Tapatalk occasionally crashed.

I was a bit surprised when I saw that my phone lost 17% battery life over 5 hours when I didn't do anything with it. Unfortunately, I figured out why later on when I tried to use it. :\

I think I posted about this bug before, but there's a problem where my phone will look like it's connected fine (normal signal, 3G indicated, etc.), but when you actually go to use the phone's data, it doesn't work. The only way to fix it is to turn the phone off and on again... airplane mode and turning off the data connection both do not work. Unfortunately, I forgot to attempt to make a call to see if the voice connection didn't work either.

It's happened to me twice so far in the ~3 weeks that I've owned my phone. :|

Apparently Apple still has a lot of bugs to work out in 5.0... or at least that's the impression I get from the dev forums.

But I haven't seen any mention of such a bug as yours. If it's really the phone, I think you may want to consider a replacement at your local Apple Store.

This is the exact same problem I'm having in my other thread I started. Although Airplane mode usually fixes my issue, and when it does happen, it happens a LOT, then goes away for a while.

I usually can tell by checking my friends who have iOS 5.0 in my iMessages. If you go to their name and the SEND button is green, you have voice / text but no data. If it is blue, you're good to go for all 3.

Is it related to the location service -> services page?

I'm not sure what this issue is. Is it possible that Location Services is messing up my connection somehow? I've been tempted to try driving into range of another tower to see if that fixes it, but it'd be helpful if I knew where the towers were around me to begin with.

Maybe our issues are similar but not completely alike then. I think the reason why mine doesn't fix the problem is that it seems that my phone doesn't drop the connection with the tower when I place it in airplane mode. In my past experience, when you turn airplane mode off, your phone should search for a tower to connect to, but when I turned it off to try and fix the no data issue, my phone just went right back to being connected to the tower and then 3G enabled a few seconds afterward.

Essentially, if I don't see "Searching...", it won't work.

I usually keep it off for at least a few seconds so it does do the search.

EDIT:

Also it doesn't ALWAYS work.
