iphone 4 to HTC 1X+, LG Optimus G or wait for Nexus 4?

I'm going to make the leap to android. The iphone 5 left me underwhelmed. My 4 is a little slow and as I get older my eyesight has gotten worse. Would like a bigger screen.

So of those 3, HTC and LG $199 on contract. I like both although I like the HTC a little better in looks and the UI, plus it has JB OOTB.

The LG has the micros SD slot and comes with a 16gb card installed. So half the space of the HTC. I only have 16 now and don't use it all so not much of an issue.

Reviews for both are about the same.

Or should I wait for the Nexus 4 that may or may not be available for more than a month or even longer. Our area is scheduled for LTE next year and AT&Ts 3g service is pathetically slow.

I'm kind of leaning towards getting the HTC.

Anyone have any opinions or thoughts? Advice for an iphone switcher? (I run Macs and ipads at home and that won't change).

Thanks
Gene

Nexus 4. No contract, no skins and updates that actually happen and in a decent amount of time. The only spec its bad at is storage which you mentioned doesn't matter.

iPhone 4 here. Same thing. I am underwhelmed by the iPhone 5 (although I do appreciate the battery life people get with it).

I am not really considering ANY skinned Android phones because I don't want to deal with the skins, potential compatibility issues (and sometimes they do happen), and the delays for OS updates.

For LG Optimus G, it's a superiorly spec'd phone to the Nexus 4, and it does include some performance settings that the Nexus 4 should have but doesn't. But then again, it costs a lot more than the Nexus 4 unlocked and there are delays to updates with LG too. If you get a locked phone I guess it also depends on what plan you'd need to be on. Will it cost you the same in monthly costs to get the Optimus G (or HTC 1X) as it would to get the Nexus 4? If so, then the Optimus G (or HTC 1X) seems attractive.

This is especially true since you're on AT&T and the Optimus G (and HTC 1X) includes LTE. It's less of a concern for me because I'm in Canada. Although my area already has good LTE support, it apparently also has good HSPA+ support, something AT&T lacks I'm told.

Advice for an iphone switcher?

This is the best advice I can give you.

If you're just switching for the hell of it, I don't think you should. The iPhone 5 is a significant upgrade over the iPhone 4.

You new to identify specific reasons you want to switch. What are the features Android has that iOS doesn't that are going to impact you and your daily usage.

I did the same thing a few months ago with a Galaxy Nexus and was underwhelmed. It was nice, but it didn't really do anything for me above and beyond the platform I was already invested in.

EDIT: But if you decide to leave, yes a Nexus 4. I wouldn't look at anything else.

Thanks. I like the apple eco system FWIW. But I don't see the iphone 5 as much of an upgrade other than the speed. I want a bigger screen and I'm getting the itch to have a little more customization over the look and UI.

I'm hoping and betting that our area will get ATT LTE soon since Verizon has LTE here.

If I change out to Android I think I'm going with the 1X+. I played with the 1X and liked it. The + is faster and comes with JB already.

I just need to be sure it will work with my Mac using google's music manager app.

If I buy apps from the play store for my phone can I use the same apps on my wife's phone or do you need to pay for each one for different phones?

Thanks

Can your hands/pockets deal with the Note 2? Because, then, that.

Going from an iPhone 4 to a Note II would likely feel like stuffing a laptop in my pants.

I've looked at them but they are too big.

Thanks

Interesting. Especially since LG makes the Nexus 4 that seemingly everyone is clamoring to get.

Not really. LG makes some pretty crappy phones. Their software is buggy, laggy, and non-stock. If the Nexus 4 and Galaxy Nexus had equal specs I would get the Galaxy without question.

I've been a pretty big LG hater for years. They put out crap, cheap phones. But they've done a pretty good job the last year or so that I'm cautiously optimistic.

LG makes great phones in Asia, carriers in the US have never given LG the budget to make a good phone in the US until now with the Optimus G. And even then, Verizon shits on them by offering the LG Spectrum II. Honestly, I don't understand that carrier sometimes.

As for the design of the Nexus 4 vs the Galaxy Nexus... I'm not even going to go there. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

Exactly. It's the US carriers shitting on the phones and the fact that no one really knows about these phones. It's like Sony and Nokia made great phones but no one in the US knew much about them.

As a former Galaxy Nexus owner, and new Nexus 4 owner, I can tell you that would be a huge mistake.

So far, the screen on the Nexus 4 looks much nicer (but not nearly as nice as online reviewers would lead you to believe) noticeably faster, more touch responsive, and equal battery life (read: crap.)

Not to mention the overall body feels more premium than any other Android phone I've held, and I've held a LOT.

My Galaxy Nexus would feel like a huge step down if I had to get one.

LG has quality issues rampant it seems. Mine has dust glued between the glass and LCD, but a replacement will be here Friday. There are tons of other complaints on XDA.
