iPhone 3GS mobile hotspot to iPad2, HELP!

I know it can be done if you have a 3gs or 4g phone with iOS 4.3.

Some background info:

AT&T Wireless is the carrier
we have grandfathered in unlimited data plan from iPhone we set up 1-1/2 years ago

1) What do I have to get from AT&T to do this?
2) Will it cost us more?
3) Will they take away our unlimited data plan?
4) How much faster does the iPad2 burn through the data plan with obviously larger files and packets being downloaded if say you are surfing?

Wife is dead set on getting the iPad veruss some of the android system tablets. I tell her since her main usage will be at home downstairs that we have wifi and she doesn't need to use the 3G anyways....This way I can get into an ipad2 for much less...in the 400's...

If she is out and about most places have wifi now so it cant be that difficult to use it outside of the house.

Plus my work just gave me an EVO HTC 4G phone for my full personal use so I am giving my son my 3GS and plan and taking his older 3G of the network. So we were looking at saving 40 dollars a month in phone charges along with dropping our minutes plan. My plan is also unlimited data plan, whereas his 3G was not. So I can see spedning a few more bucks for mobile hotspot activity, BUT THAT IS IT!!! I hate cell phone and cable companies and their cost....
