I just got around to upgrading my BT8010 Bluetooth headset to the latest firmware in an attempt to figure out why I am not getting any Caller ID on the built-in display. The only way to get caller ID to display is to delete the contact from the iPhone phonebook. I tested this by asking a coworker who was not in my phonebook to call me. It was the first time CID had ever worked! I pressed the menu button and it displayed the number on the BT headset display just like the iPhone did. It added it to the call list as if it was the only number I had ever conversed with (HA!). I then saved the number in my phonebook by pulling it up in the recent call history, touching "Create New Contact," then entering a name and saving. I asked him to call again. Sure enough, the iPhone displayed the name I entered on the phone while the BT headset just rang and vibrated with no CID data to display.
I have an iPhone 3G. It may have the latest update or it may have the original firmware (I'm not sure which one we upgraded... mine or my brother's). Either way, I'd like to know if anyone else has a BT CID device and an iPhone or iPhone 3G that could test this out.
