iPhone 3G: Will not see ANY wireless routers

My wife and I both have the same exact phone. It is the iPhone 3G 8gb (mine is the 16gb). We both have the latest OS 3.1.2. However, her phone will pickup/find any wireless router/network (including our own home) but my phone will NOT.

Even when I manually add it, it still will not find it.

I went and reset all network settings and still nada. Any ideas? Is this device defective?

I would try a full restore (and don't use the backup - set it up as a new phone - just make sure to have your contacts/calendar synced somewhere first), if that doesn't work, I think you may have a bum phone unfortunately 🙁

Sync the apps with iTunes first, then after you restore as a new phone, just sync then back. The reason you don't want to use a normal backup is that the wifi settings may be corrupted in the backup too.

Is this the "transfer purchases" option? I normally do not use iTunes and hate how it works.

That transfers the items you purchased on your phone to iTunes, so yes you can use that, but i recommend using iTunes to sync everything up first as well before you reformat/restore.

I had to do a full restore just recently because my battery percentage was completely out of whack. The Apple rep reiterated that sometimes the OS just loses track of where the battery is really at. I was hesitant, but did a full restore (and that isn't the first time, and my phone is only 5 months old as a 3GS!!!)... and yes it fixed the problem. iPhone OS needs lots of fixes still if you ask me, and has a way to go.

Best of luck.
