Awhile ago, I read on gizmodo a blurb that their source at engaget says the 2nd gen will be slightly thicker. But i also remember a few days after that they said that in fact the iphone will be thinner. I can't find that original post however and all the sources I found online so far quoted engaget saying that its in fact thicker. Which is it? i hope its thinner.

There have been conflicting reports of whether or not it will be thicker or thinner. But I think that either way it goes it'll allow it to fit more comfortably in your hand.

I hope it's thicker. I love how thin it is now, but with the curved edges it's sometimes hard to hold onto. If it was a bit more boxy and thicker, I think it would provide a better grip. As-is, it's already thinner than a closed Razr phone.

Thinner is better. Just get a good silicon grip case if you have issues with holding on to it.

I have a silicon grip case, but I don't use it - it doesn't slide into my pocket as easily. I don't know what the obsessiveness with "thinner" is - it's too thin to hold easily already, it can get slippery!

I just called him. He said it was gonna be thinner than most people think, but I'm not sure if he was talking about the phone.

All I have to say is that if you have problems with dropping things like phones then the iPhone isn't for you.

I was in a Thai restaurant in Denver (Swing Thai - pretty nice place) about two months ago and a young guy in the booth next to us got up, grabbed his coat and his iPhone fell out of his pocket and slammed into the tile floor. He got the phone but left a lot of pieces of his screen on the ground. He looked pretty upset about it.

Stuff happens.

Mine fell out of my jacket pocket while running to a plane at DIA back in January. It fell about 4 feet onto a tile floor and literally slid about 15 feet across the floor - with no damage at all.

Like I said, stuff happens.

Cliff:
+pictures of the old iphone case as well as the new iphone case made by eXo.
+The new one is thicker and little curvy round the back.
I've been tempted to finally go with an iPhone once the 3G versions are out, but if it's going to be thicker I'm going to have to reconsider.:(

lol, no offense but are you serious? you do realize that if you added a case, it would add more thickness than a 2mm increase from the previous iPhone would?

Who said I was going to add a case? :p The naked iPhone is as big of a thing as I want to carry around (if not a tad too thick) so I'm not very interested in it getting any thicker.
