Question iPhone 11 pro emails stuck in outbox

Got my new iPhone 11 Pro yesterday. Snapped some photos and then tried to email them. Did it like normal. selected the photo clicked the up arrow, selected email, typed an address and subject, then hit send.

No whoosh. Takes me back to the photos app. No photo gets emailed.

Checked the mail outbox and there it is. I figured that the mail was set up incorrectly, so deleted the account and redid it.
  • I can send mail manually from mail and it goes right out.
  • If I initiate an email from the mail app and attach a photo, it goes right out.
  • If I initiate an email from the photo app, it gets stuck in outbox. I can however open the email from outbox and resend it and it will go.
Any help here?

Almost certainly an iOS 13 bug. It's apparently NOT ready for primetime, but it had to be shipped with the iPhone 11 series in order to work with the Series 5 watches (or maybe WatchOS 6?)

I asked my wife to do the same, and it is exactly the same as you described. Annoying, but not a deal breaker. It'll get fixed soon. The photo software is newly updated isn't it? I think I remember that being a difference in the last phone.

Got this phone for my father to replace his 6 because he wanted a better camera. Is really a pain for my nearly 80 year old father to use. He knew how to do it on his old iPhone 6.

The extra steps of opening the mail app, going to outbox, reopening the messages, then resending them is a deal breaker for him. Too many extra steps.

I found that they seem to go straight out if I turn off live view. At least one has.

iOS 13.1 is due out tomorrow. It's main purpose is to fix the security exploit that iOS 13 has, however it fixes many bugs too.

I have the iphone 11 and have not had this issue. I bought mine on release day. In fact this is by far the best iphone I have owned to date. Just fantastic.
