iPad photo management

I recently got a 3rd gen iPad for my mom. I'm trying to figure out if there's any simple way to manage albums on the iPad w/o having to sync with iTunes.

Ideally, I could email her a link to a zip file for instance, and that would then decompress into a photo album on the iPad. And just browsing a site is no good, I want her to have offline access so they need to reside on the iPad. Is there anything that would come close to doing this?

If I can't get away from syncing w/ iTunes, the next option is to set up a dropbox/network folder to sync photos from (I'm assuming each folder would then be it's own album?). I'm guessing this is my best alternative?

Anyone have any suggestions?

You could put them on Flickr I suppose, and use the FlickStackr to manage and download the pictures that you want to be on the ipad natively. I use that, and I can copy individual photos onto my ipad or whole sets or collections.

Yeah, Dropbox would be your best bet. There isn't any native decompressing of zip files on the iPad.

So? Take your pics and use the CM to move them to her iPad. I think you are missing what CM can do.

The Internet links are OK if you always have them available. I travel a lot, and always knows that Internet access is not always available.

I just bought a great app, Web Albums HD which works with my Picasa/Google + account.

I have always put my pictures up on Picasa Web Albums, and it turns out this app will display the pictures from there. You can also set it to cache the albums so that you can view offline with no network connection. It's not caching the "full" picture, as my cache is only taking up about 700 MB with 4,000 pictures. But they definitely look great on my new iPad.

My thoughts maybe are you can set her up a google account that you also have the pw to, upload the pictures to her picasa/google+, then she can view them in the app. She won't have to do anything but open it up.

Isn't Picasa going away at the end of the month though?

It's basically google + now, same basic thing though. I haven't heard anywhere about picasa going away though?

There is definite over lap between this and google+ though.

Interesting, I'll have to check it out. My wife loves Picasa and she mentioned that it's getting the ax soon.

I"m trying to find info on this.. I don't see anything anywhere to indicate that it's going away other than google obviously putting google+ references into picasa 3.9 application and when you upload pics they are available under your google+ photos as well as on the picasaweb site.
I pay for extra picasa storage to back up all of my pictures. I"m ok with them going to google+ so long as they don't take away anything that the current picasaweb site offers.

I got so fed up with picasa/g+ that I moved to photobucket!!!

I would do dropbox. The iOS dropbox app is great.

Also, Sugarsync has a great iPad app as well and they give you more storage to start out with.

I'm more interested with the simplistic nature of editing photos with picnik via picasa over the web storage of my photos. Sorry for semi derailing this post

CM? The camera connection kit?

So if I take my pics, do whatever edits and tagging I need, then organize them into various folders, will it import them into the iPad and create albums based on the folders?
