If performance went from good enough to good enough, and screen went from good to not as good, I have no interest in "upgrading."
like others have said in other threads, just because you have an oven doesn't mean you wont buy a microwave.
Since I've gotten my iPad 2 I browse the web and do regular tasks on it a lot more than my main PC. It's just a better experience.
There are people out there who think a tablet completely replaces a pc desktop/laptop?
this fact makes me sad every day. my work laptop has a resoloution of 1280*800
i have a 7 year old dell laptop that does 1920x1200 at the same screen size (15.4")
It depends on applications.
Can anybody Visio, Autocad, or Photoshop on a tablet?
Tablets will most likely mop up the casual user market. But for other applications/software, a PC (or generally more powerful personal computer) is required.
QFMFTthank you captain obvious.
tablets are not here to replace pc's, they are here to be used along with one.

I have said in numerous threads that the iPad 2 replaced my laptop, but one thing it didn't do was replace my desktop. When I need to type something long like a paper or if I need to play Counter Strike, the tablet simply isn't designed for those things. But for the majority of the stuff I do like browsing the web, watching Netflix, playing $.99 games etc. the tablet is king. IMO, it's much easier to sit on a couch and hold a 1 pound device to browse the web then sitting in a computer chair.
Out of 20 replies in this thread, there are 3 of them mocking or berating apple users for their opinions.
And you guys think its the apple users who start up the shitstorm? Look in the mirror.
Edit: On another note, I totally agree with this study. An iPad is not a computer replacement. I sold my iPad after seeing that it has no marginal value to me over anything the iPhone does. My father has one and it is actually a great fit for someone like him. It works for some people and is not a good fit for others. Most tablets in general are not geared towards the hardcore computer user you see on this forum. They are geared towards the casual computer users who want to surf the internet in a simple, straightforward way. I don't think iPads are going to cannibalize PC sales at all, but I think they will eventually cannibalize netbook sales.

Lock it up.
+1 lulz for crying about personal attacks and then personally attacking someone in the next sentence.cheezy321 said:Quit it with the personal attacks. You are nerd raging hardcore. I've seen it a million times when it comes to android users.
cheezy321 said:The specs are all that matters to phandroids. That is, until it works against them. Then things like GPU ACCELERATION DONT MATTER! This is how it works. You will never win
cheezy321 said:Back up your claim then buddy. When did you get the google bot chip in your own head? Jesus, phandroids will never realize they are worse than the iPhone fanboys they hate. Its hilarious.

Personally, I use my grill to cook steak, but to each their own.
Hmmm...did they compare results to a parallel universe where the iPad never existed?
I definitely didn't buy a laptop I was planning on getting after I got an iPad as a gift. There must be others like this. I don't believe that there was "no dent."
I'm selling off my laptop and moving to a desktop/tablet/phone setup.
TO THE CLOUD
Hey... never underestimate the power of a REALLY hot cast iron grill pan for making a good steak in the middle of winter![]()
Can i get an Amen Hallelujer
I'm actually moving to all-in-one/tablet/phone. Minimalist - I'm sick of wires.

They conducted survey's of laptop buyers, iPadX buyers, and those who bought both. Not the most subjective study in the world, but it does stall the 'ipad is killing laptops&printed media' arguments that crop up. Usually from the idiots writing at CNN Tech.
