Maybe they are discontinuing it shortly. Stop production and sell off the ones you have left? Alternatively storage chips are just storage chips. If they have a huge bulk order for the 128 ones then maybe you keep making a 128gb ipad mini 4 as it keeps the bill of materials low and profits high.

If you are thinking about buying an iPad mini 4, consider carefully. Its A8 will be somewhat limiting going forward.

It will already be a bit limited in terms of media support as of iOS 11, and it will only get worse with time.

Overall it's a fine machine, but if you're buying today I would think twice because its SoC is getting long in the tooth.

I went to BB yesterday and it seems like there are now a million different ipad models. All these new Pro models in different sizes it's hard to keep track.

iPad Pro 12.9" 64GB - $749

There was an iPad Pro 9.7" but that was discontinued a few weeks ago in favor of the Pro 10.5".

Ah, Apple planned obsolescence. Gets worse every year. So my iPad pro 9.7 just went the way of the iPad 3. So glad I don't buy their products.
