iPad mini 2 and iOS 8

App incompatibility used to be a real problem, but nowadays if the latest version isn't compatible with your device, you'll be able to download the most recent version that is. That's assuming that you bought it before the developer may have pulled it (some do).

iOS 8 brings jack squat to the table unless you have a Mac, or you can make good use of app extensions. Besides that, it's iOS 7 with more bugs.

I don't have my iPad mini 2 any more, but with 8.0 and 8.0.2 I had a brutally annoying wifi bug where after idling for a while, wifi would still be connected but provide no internet access. Probably a DNS issue in iOS.

I upgraded my Mini 2 retina to iOS 8.1 and I think the Safari tab reloading problem has gotten a tiny little better (though it's of course not gone completely, 1 GB RAM still is 1 GB RAM).

Wow, how does one prevent ios 8 update from being silently downloaded onto my iPad and taking up several GBs? I have the feeling it's going to redownload after it's been deleted.
