I am trying to setup iPads with Apple Configurator 1.5. I understand that Numbers and Pages comes free with iPads. I can reinstall them free on each iPad individually with iTunes, but with Apple Configurator it won't let me tick the applications for install on the iPads. The iPads are using iOS 8.x.
I have also tried doing a master backup in Apple Configurator, but it doesn't look like the applications are saved in the master backup. I have also tested a master backup in iTunes. The backup in iTunes happens really quickly, but when i reinstall i see two main stages on the bar on top, them being:
1. Alert of initiation and completion of backup restore (which occurs in under 30 seconds)
2. The applications then install after the backup is done manually.
Can anyone confirm if Apple does not store applications in a master backup?
Also I was wondering if anyone with experience can point me in the right direction on how to best handle this issue? Also buying keys for Pages and Numbers will not be an option, and does not make sense as they should be free.
