IPad graphics blanking out

Sometimes on my iPad, 3d textures blank out. It is very similar to when computer game textures fizz out due to overheating, and it looks like the only way to get it to stop is to reset the iPad.

IPad mini 2 a7 chip btw.

Any fixes? Is it a lemon?
