So I'm looking for a fancy dock. Just for charging. Something that looks solid, and is either in tune with the Apple design language or is interestingly different yet able to fit into a neutral decor.

I've already had a magazine rack adapted as a charging station to put in the hall and one of the new jobs for the cleaner will be to make sure there's at least one iPad docked in each main room, collect up any errant iPads and stick them in the rack - so with all due respect to the cleaner, nothing that requires a Ph.D to dock.

Ideally, it would bear the load of being used while in the dock. I've been shown a number of such docks by the Home Theater integrators but I've seen nothing I really like the look of so far.

Bonuses:
- comes with hardware to flush mount onto / bolt into coffee tables
- able to dock other iDevices without looking weird

Have you used one? It's utterly useless - it *has* to be glued (since there's no way of reversibly bolting it) into place in order to be anywhere near usable as a dock.

I've got a friend who is about to run a production on a few iPad docks for me via CNC and some fancy wood. Could you expand on the whole flush mount idea? A link or picture of a product that does something similar would be great.

I could possibly send out a few to ATOT members at cost.

Well, at the simplest level designed to be bolted to a desk using a single hole (obviously in this case the cable must go down that route as well).
