iPad display differences

Have posted to a couple forums to help on this...

I am going to buy the wife an iPad. Sounds like Apple is splitting the LCD supply across a few companies - LG, Samsung and Sharp. Are their potential visual differences from one iPad to another much like we have seen with the MacBook (Samsung vs LG)? Thanks for any info you can provide.

None that I can remember noticing. I'm sure your wife isn't going to notice either.

Then again, we have people here who actually go through iPad after iPad after iPad because of "display issues"...

The iPad 3s had major yellowing issues with the Samsung displays. Mainly because they did a crappy job gluing the glass to the LCD panel.

The actual colors on the display may be different. The differences are subtle in general, but can sometimes be pretty drastic.

But all iPad I have seen suffer from image retention, so at least that part is consistent.
