IPad and router issues

I have Cox Cable and my modem crashed, so I bought a new Modem, had to have Cox sync it to my laptop, every since the modem went my IPad will not connect to the router. I have reset the router 3 times, Linksys will not help me unless I pay them, which I refuse to do. Also Apple wants to be paid for help. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can resolve this problem with my IPad? It does connect other places, it keeps telling me the password is incorrect, I have reset the password 3 times I re-installed the router like it was new. I still cannot connect.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thank you

When you say "it cannot connect", what EXACTLY is happening? Can it not see a signal from the router at all? Can it see a signal but gets an error when you try to connect? Does it connect but can't get online? Something else?

Is your laptop windows based, or a Mac?

Because I think your solution wil be taking the connection info from your laptop and inputting that info in to your IPad.

With iOS6 there is an issue with iPads and iPhones refusing to connect to some models of routers. I know, because I have one of the troublesome routers (a Netgear wgt624v3). The solution in my case was to downgrade the firmware as I previously had the most recent installed. I don't know if this is related to your problem, but I thought I'd throw that out there just in case.
