I am at a lost of which tablet I should get? First I did try a iPod Touch because I wanted something that would fit it my pocket but the sound quality sucked. I was hoping it would be better. What tablet should I buy ?

You should probably try to figure out whether or not you want a 7" tablet or a 10" tablet first. I'd suggest going to a store and trying out a few different devices first just to get a feel for which you find most comfortable.

The iPad2 for $349 refurbished is a great choice right now.
I like the 7" form factor more but I wouldn't touch one without the 1280x800 resolution(which is Plus and Kindle do not have)

Isn't that a risky buy though ? A refurbished hardware item. Just saying. Has anyone here ever done it ?

Apple's refurbs are pretty good, several people here have bought refurb iPad 2s.

Some of the stuff you listed works better on 9"+ tablets, some works better on 7in tablets. I would avoid the Fire because of the bastardized Android OS on it. The 7 Plus is a good tablet, if you can find it for the right price. BB and CostCo were selling it for 300 and its superior to the Fire in every way. The Toshiba Thrive 7 is 1280x800 and 7in, but by most reviews, its thick, heavy, buggy, and has half the battery life other HoneyComb tablets do.

We're going to see a lot of sales and price cuts on the first generation HoneyComb tablets, the Galaxy Tabs, the Xooms, the TF101s, etc, as they try to clear inventory for the next gen stuff. Obviously, there's a LOT of unsold HoneyComb tablets.

Apple and dell outlet are the two refurb options that are not risky at all. I just got a refurb ipad2 and am loving it.

FYI, I bought a refurb Kindle Fire and flashed ICS onto it; nice little Android tablet for cheap.

iPad is the way to go for gaming and education. It has by far the best selection of games. For education it has iTunes U, Khan Academy, and TED apps with tons of awesome free content.

Agreed. I've bought refurbed items from both and they were indistinguishable from brand new items.

I have a kindle fire, what are the procedures to flash my gadget? any suggestion?

I skimmed this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552547

Then did this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399889

Then flashed this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1563171

I've never flashed a phone or tablet before, so my nerves were high.
With that said, I skimmed most of the above threads and just paid attention to the steps.

After tax on $350, the difference is only like $25. Apple charges tax. Personally I don't see the appeal of refurb when the saving is so small.

I agree. Some people are really cheap though. :p

I know a guy who bought an ~80 dollar Chinese tab with a resistive touch screen, for use as an e-reader because the extra 20-30 dollars for a Kindle/Nook Simple was too much.
