Ipad 2 not retaining movies???

Oyeve

Lifer
Ok, so, some gave me an ipad 2 a few months ago, primarily for testing my jobs ipad app. I do have an apple id that was created many years ago and that account is linked to around 18 movies or so. Mostly from DVDs that had a digital copy. Anyway, the ipad 2 is 64 gb and a couple of weeks ago I downloaded all of the movies local to the ipad because i was staying at my girls apartment and her wifi is weak and i wanted to watch a couple of movies before sleeping. Anyway, I take it to work for some app testing and wanted to watch a flick and only around 2 are local to the pad and the rest have little clouds indicating its in apples cloud. Why did they disappear? Are they always going to be in the cloud? Not very hands on on ipads and itunes.

Wrong forum.

Are you sure all of the movies finished downloading? Did you check to make sure? I don't know that 64GB is enough for 18 movies.

Hah! I thought I was in apple forum.

Yes, i verified then (around 2-3 weeks ago) they were all there. Now only 2 of the 18 are there.

Mods can move. thanks.

Have you been connecting the iPad to iTunes regularly? If you have been, next time do this:

In iTunes, click on the iPad in the sidebar
Then go to the Movies tab, and see if there's anything in there about removing them once watched or something.

No, I never connect to itunes. Could it be somehow be related to other idevices I own with these movies on them? Is there a limit to how many idevices are allowed to have copies?

How many iDevices do you have? There could be a limit such as that, I'm really not sure.

If you downloaded the movies directly to the iPad from the store, yet when the iPad syncs with the iTunes app (even wirelessly when charging) the movies aren't included in the sync then they might be removed.

I haven't tested this, and I'm not sure how Apple worked the logic. In the old days you'd plug the iPad into the PC and sync. You would go into the iTunes settings for the device and decide what content would sync over to the iPad. Perhaps that's setup and now happening with wireless sync, thus removing content that's not included.
