IP35-E mosfet and SB cooling

I'm running an Abit IP35-E with a Q6600 at 3.45GHz. The mosfets get stupid hot on this board, so I have a little fan blowing on the sink. This works but that fan is really annoying and just held up by some twist ties on the IO shield vent and my waterblock mount.

I checked Thermalright's site but none of the HR-09 sinks list compatibility. Anyone here have this board and know of some good aftermarket cooling to keep these suckers at a reasonable temp?

The SB gets really hot too but I think that's easily solved by using that blue zalman chipset sink. Haven't gotten it yet but I see no reason why it shouldn't work OK, unless someone has a better idea.

My NB has an HR-05 on it so no issues there

i have that board and my north bridge gets crazy hot. i have my case side off and a fan blowing directly on it. but i only have my clocked to 3 ghz. with a q6600 if anyone knows how to cool that bridge down i would really like to have taht info

Are the enzotech sinks going to be any better than stock? The stock sink is a little taller.

alanwest, get an HR-05. That's what I did for my NB and it works great, no fan required.

copper vs alu.

you can get away with less for better. :T

still need an active fan tho

Worth a try I suppose. I have an old huge AXP heatsink I was thinking of chopping up to make a new mosfet sink to see if that would work better.

Antec Spot Cooler actually works really well. It just mounts where the mobo standoffs are in your case.

Edit: MicroCenter had them for only 9.99 a few weeks back, just so you know.

I use a HR05 on the NB and an evercool vcre on the sb and they work fine, with a quad in the E the Mosfets overheat before anything else does so a downdraft cooler like the BT works very well on these boards. When I switched to a E8400 the mosfets stay cool with little air flowing over them and are far from being any sort of problem.
