So i'm installing a firewire card because this board lacks one. My question is this: Will it matter in terms of speed if the firewire card is PCIe x1 or just regular PCI? Using the card mainly for video capture transfer from video camera.
 
No, it shouldn't unless] you have a lot of other traffic using the PCI bus at the same time as transferring via firewire.
PCI-E has more bandwidth to share.
