IP35-E back in stock @ NewEgg

The IP35-E makes for a good $70AR motherboard. I'm not as sold on it at "full" price.

Speaking of which, I got my $20 rebate from the Mwave deal, but looks like I'm going to have to fight for the Newegg rebate. :|

It is a good board, maybe not the best. ABIT should come alive in the next year though I hope.

But as I said before, according to Abit Forums IP35-E is End of Life from Abit to make room for the X38/X48 and P45 Boards.

I would purchase this board while you still can if you are interested.
 
No but according to a whole lot of other people's testing and reports it's the only sub-$100 board that does 400+ fsb with no quirks. (ie DS3L losing settings on a restart or reboot)

The other reason I picked it over the DS3L is because the bios has a lot more tweaking options available on the IP35-E.

The only other 400+ fsb overclockers board near $100 I know of is the Blood Iron and that's $107.

...and you won't necessarily want the DFI either if you're a novice. The learning curve with a typical DFI bios is quite steep and intimidating given all of the tweakable settings available. While I personally would have preferred more RAM timing adjustments, IMO the bios on the IP35/-E is straightforward and intuitive -- far better than the Asuses I've owned in the past and also Giga from what I've seen on a friend's DS3.

If it comes with bios 12 stick with it, don't flash to bios 14, it will reset your overclock settings to stock after you power down and then back up.

how can you tell which bios revision is which (since it apparently lists it by date but not revision?). TIA

it's in abit's catalogue for Q1 2008 at least.
if it was eol where is this new stock coming from?

abit are pretty tight-lipped about new products due to NDAs.

on the POST screen where it lists the BIOS string it's the last 2 figures e.g. -12.
FlashMenu will also tell you version no. or apps like Everest & Sandra will give you the date which you can then cross reference against abit release info.

 
$59 after $30 rebate now on newegg. I have one ready to go for my sister's new computer. should be fun to mess with

you should look into the issue with transistor t0-4 and cold start problems. i have had 4 of these --two i bought from mwave and two i got from abit e-rma and they all have problems posting under 17c. -- i repaired the problem myself with a resistor over the affected transistor--which is make-shift at best.

good $60 mb if you do not have to RMA it two or three times-and live in a warm part of the country where it never drops below 17c.

i now have a dfi and a biostar they work like a champ right out of the box-no fineky bios problems either. -and they only cost a tad more. to me it is worth the extra $30 to avoid repetitious RMAs and modding the mb just to get it to post on a cold morning.

It will keep your CPU oc settings with bios v14 if you don't power down completely, (keep it on standby power), but will reset in to stock setting if you power down completely (pull the PSU plug, turn off surge protector strip - no standby power) the next time you boot up.

Yeah, i just read that, i never unplug the pc completely, so i dont know if mine does.
Supposedly it will resume your OC settings after a restart though.

I'll find out here in a few minutes, i just unplugged that pc and threw my Q6600 in my ds3 which im testing now, so i'll see if my IP35-E does do that once i plug it back in then.

Also, heres some interesting info on THE DUAL BOOT ISSUE i've experienced.
I never had trouble with the dual boot issue with bios 14 or bios 15, yet others reported they still had the issue.
I just swapped my OCZ-600ADJ with a Corsair HX620.
With my OCZ psu, i never had the dual boot issue with 14 or 15.
With the Corsair, i now have the dual boot issue again.

Just thought that was interesting, the dual boot doesnt bother me, so it doesnt matter.
From what ive read, im lucky the Corsair works with my hardware "combo" as ive read some people cant even post with the Corsair and IP35-E.

 
Me and my roommate have this board and we both think it's great. However, watch out if you have Crucial Ballstix Ram. We both had 2x1GB DDR2-800 Ballistix in our systems for about 4 or 5 months and it just crapped out on us. We bought new RAM and everything is good again. My one other friend who also has this board said his Ballistix stopped working on his also. Not sure if it's a Crucial problem or a compatibility issue with the board, but it's best to be careful anyway.
 
How's this board compare to P35 board from Asus and Gigabyte? I've got a GA-P35C-DS3R rev. 1, and it's a pain in the ass, and I think at this point it's dying on me.
 
I'd pick one of these up for the new system I'm building, but I've already got my Corsair DDR2 1066 RAM.

Seeing as I can't use this board, is there an obvious "step up" or alternative great deal for a P35 board that supports 1066 memory?
 
i don't see any reason you can't run the ddr-2-1066 on the ip35e --over-clocked @1 to 1.

i have ran corsair twin-x ddr 2-800 with pro-mos chips @ 1066mhz @ 1to1 and at 2-1 ratio.

i have also run a-data EE with micron d9 chips at 1166mhz. so i would just run the abit--if its a good one.
