IP phones & Voip

I'm looking to get some IP phones for a small business. We have a vonage adapter from the router to 2 handset, but were gonna need aroun 4-5. I dont know if Vonage would support more phones, or if it can be done with just adding more handsets? Anyways, I have the ability to run cable to each room if i need to. I was thinking about trying out Asterisk or another open source. What we really need is a voice service to pick up and direct callers to people, voicemail, etc...The whole "Thank you for calling.....If you want blah bvlah, press extenstion." Caller ID is a must and I'd love to have different ringers for different lines if possible. I would like all three lines to ring on all phones though.

I've seen so much information on VOIP , IP phones etc.. i dont know what choices to opt for. Can someone put me on the right path 😀

There are going to be 3 lines total. A fax, business, and personal.
Only 3-5 phones needed now.
Have vonage now, but only supports 2 lines.

They told me each module uses IP.. I had talked to them about it.. not sure if they'll use 1 ip but different ports.. They were very slow to respond.. i gave up eventually
