ip # from e-mail addy?

new for me, stale for you, sorry all, but can anyone tell me how to get an ip# from an e-mail addy? never had the need to know until now. all i see is references to domain subjects, or reverse searches where the ip is already known. thx evry1 twx2

you can get the ip # of their mail server from the mail. open it up with notepad.

If you're using Outlook Express you can go to Properties attribute which has the IP address of the machine that posted it. This isn't that accurate since if the guy is behind a firewall/proxy server/NAT box, you'll get the gateway box....
