im looking to possibly build a security camera DVR server

if i use normal bnc cameras, i have to buy a bnc pci board

if i use IP cameras (which i know are much more expensive), it seems to me i don't need a board just software that will communicate with each camera, am i correct?

who makes decent IP cameras (need outdoor/indoor and night-time viewing) and who makes software to DVR many of them?
