Hi

I am unable to get to most of sourceforge website and also can't get to www.boost.org - most websites work ok though. I'm told the reason is probably because there's a block somewhere along the line with the IP address I have. Other people who have a cable connection and the same ISP as me have this problem too.

I can get to sourceforge if I use http://anonycat.com/ but downloading files doesn't work. I've tried using a router but it didn't help.

Any suggestions?
TIA

Well if other people on your ISP have the same problem then I would guess your ISP is blocking it. I'd complain. It's none of their business to block access to sites.

Have you installed any software from your ISP? If their software acts as a proxy it may be blocking certain sites. You should need ANY software installed to use your internet connection. I tell my clients never to install the software.

You might want to check your HOSTS file to see if it's been compromised. Ffind your HOSTS file and make sure the ONLY entry is:
127.0.0.1 localhost
(any lines starting with a # sign are just remarks and are ignored).

Your HOSTS file is located here:
Windows XP = C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC
Windows 2K = C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC
Win 98\ME = C:\WINDOWS

SCROLL DOWN through the HOSTS file to make sure there are no other entries!!! Many spyware add the entries after a long blank area in the file so you don't see it unless you scroll down.

Thanks. My hosts file looks ok.

I've now heard that

"Sourceforge has blocked subnet ranges of IP's that affect Australia & New Zealand users. Apparently they did it as the result of a distributed DOS attack that they couldn't accurately pinpoint. "

It's been a problem for well over a week now.
