Hey guys,

Is there a way to track someones IP that is messaging you on yahoo or any other IM software, I want to block someone via IP

If you know what an IP is, you would at least have an idea how IM works...

short answer: no

It usually involves direct connecting and using something like Ethereal... if you can lure them into directly connecting you can obtain their IP.

I won't go into specifics, but the info is out there.

Trick the person into emailing you for some reason, then parse the email and obtain the IP.

thats what i thought, nay i was just going to see if there was a way to block an IP using IM.. I guess i'll need to do it in other ways
