Well, if it came from that IP, it was most definitely illegal.

No, that is not a possible IP Address.

Why not? I know its a dumb Q but I don't know..

Each number of the set of four can only be from 0-255. Each block of the IP address is a binary number of eight places - (2^8) - 1 = 255.

the smart thing to do would be to have sold advertising rights and use the companies IP. or just use the website for the show..

Bingo. They dont want to use a possible real IP address and have someone sue them. It would be like having them use YOUR phone number. Hence the 555

hahaha.

wouldn't u rather use an ip address out of range than using a real legitimate one?? if they used a real one can you imagine how many hits it would get??

i bet there is a whole slew of script kiddies trying to hit that 392.xx.xx.xx address right now.

why not use 127.x.y.z or 192.168.x.y or 10.x.y.z (matrix reloaded used a 10.x.y.z IP)? or some other block that doesn't route? Nerds will still complain, and the general population still won't notice, so it really doesn't matter anyway ;)
