Ok guys, here is the problem. I have an Abit IP-35E motherboard and whenever I turn the computer off, it doesn't want to boot back up. It has always had this problem, but I was waiting to see if the newest bios would fix it, and they haven't.

What happens is I turn on the computer and all the lights and fans go on, but the monitor does not come on. I tried pulling out the CMOS battery and restarting but nothing. So I got pissed off and just let it sit after I turned it on. After about 5 minutes, it just clicked on and booted like normal. So I went about my business. I then left my computer on for a few days, so I wouldn't have to deal with that problem. However, I left for a few days, so I turned it off again. Same scenario, wouldn't boot for about 5 minutes.

The computer has no problems restarting, just booting up. I don't have anything OC'ed and I never have any crashes or problems once I am in the OS, So I don't know what the problem is. Could it be a bad board?

My Setup:
Q9300 Stock
Abit IP-35E (18 bios)
2gig OCZ PC6400
7800GT
200 WD
8x DVD

a relatively few IP35-Es had some sort of hardware problem where they wouldn't start below ~65f & of course it is that time of year when most people's houses are cooler at least part of the time.
However, given that you are seeing lights & fans come on it doesn't sound like this is your problem.
Of course it may not be the mobo that is the problem but it could also be e.g. the PSU or gfx card.

Also, have you set the RAM voltage to the manufacturer's recommended setting?

Yeah, I had to set the voltages when I first got it cause my ram is 2.2v. I just don't know why the PSU would send power to all the stuff except my MB. My graphics card did not cause any problems in my D920 system, but it may be and issue where this MB and Card don't work well together.

my IP35-E does the same, summer time usually no boot up problems, once in a while it wont boot on the first or second try. i think trying to boot warms the board enough to correctly boot.
In the winter I have cold boot problem and often have to use a hair dryer aimed at that spot upper right of the cpu socket to get a successful boot.
I dont reboot often in the day to day course of things as I fold 24/7. but when I do reboot or change some hardware it can be a bit dicey getting a reboot. usually if it wont reboot when i think it shoud, i have to try other things like cmos bat removal, reseating ram seems to get it to boot when its stubborn.
It may be a bad board or bad design, but i live withit not needing to reboot that often.
mine is oc real easy 3.4. and runs stable all the time between reboots

That seems to justify it more. That would explain why it takes 5-10 minutes to boot. Maybe it takes that long for the MB to warm up. I do live in Chicago where it has been below 20F for a couple weeks now.

I've had the same problem, eventually the dang thing will turn on. But not tonight. It's about 68 in my basement, I had the comp on for days, then had to restart tonight. No joy. Done everything I can think of, can't get it to start. Everything spins up, but no POST. Gotta get a new MB...sick of this thing.

I think what the problem ended up being was the external drive I had connected to it. When I unplugged it one day, the computer seemed to start fine. The IP35-e is pretty finicky with its ports. My mouse had to be in a specific USB port or it wouldn't read it. Also didn't like my sound card all that much.

Yeah, connecting the USB hub of my LCD to the board results in no-POST for me.

no external stuff connected (other than a printer, which I disconnected already). I've about had it with this finicky board. I just have to determine it's the board and not the drive now...I don't think it's the drive, because I get NO beeps from the board when I turn it on, unless I unplug power to my 8800.

Already swapped out different RAM, to no effect.
