Can't find the answer, does anyone know?

Also is it really necessary to flash to BIOS v 14?

(My MB is version 1 by the way!)
 
They appear to have changed the PLL chip & some caps.
We ae told that it was done for purely production reasons & that perfomance shouldn't be affected.
