I'm always up at sunrise, and happend to drive past a perfect place to take pictures. I might turn this into an everyday/every other day thing taking pictures of the sunrise everymorning and making a scrap book out of it.

These are GREATLY reduced in size and quality. Original pics were about 1 meg, reduced down to about 70k on average.

Anywhoo, on with the pics.

Canon G2. Any photo buffs know if there is anyway to get a brighter image of the foreground? I had the shutter speed set to the slowest it would go to allow the most light. I didn't use a flash, but I didn't think that would make any difference.

I was using the night mode of the camera to take the pics.

If you're at the slowest shutter speed and don't have a bulb setting, you're stuck without Photoshop. On a film camera, you could use push-processing (underexpose the negative and compensate for it at process time), but that option doesn't exist for digital cameras.

A flash will brighten the immediate foreground, but since you're shooting into infinity, you're going to get a bright foreground which fades into shadow as the flash power drops off (which I'm guessing will be maybe five to ten feet).

I was taking the pics from the highest point in town(besides the water tower).

It was probably a whopping 120 feet above sea level :D

Combination exercise/fun money income. I deliver newspapers in the morning for about an hour to get some exercise, as well as some VERY nice spending $$.

Nice pics!

I could get up at sunrise too, if I went to bed at a decent hour ;)

Where are you at in Iowa? I thought it was ISU, but I don't remember.
