This is a 500 year flood. It has never happened before as far as records show.
Ah... sorry to correct, but 1993 was not 500 years ago.
This is exactly what Des Moines looked like 1993, and this time they
say its worse. Des Moines 1993 downtown was dark and vacant.
We walked downtown one night in total darkness.
Seeing the whole downtown dark and vacant was eerie as hell.
Like the end of the world scenario.
Most streets had 3 feet of water and we had to turn back.
We walked over one of the main bridges into downtown, and at the
Bottom of the bridge was a lake where city streets once were.
The only thing missing were flesh eating mutants.
Three feet of water on most the streets. No electric.
No water to the city from June 6 to July 14.
Thats a long time going without a bath, toilet, or tap drinking water.
Military handed out water uptown in parking lots for drinking and cooking.
This time, so far the, the water plant levee, they rebuilt higher, is holding.
But many downtown areas have been flooded out, again.
And this weekend is going to be the test of test as the river hit its max.
I noticed just three feet until levee top Friday afternoon.
Once it tops the levee, masses of buildings and homes will be under
Some 8 feet of water, or worse.
