Or you can look at it another way and say that iPhone users actually use ad-supported apps more than Android users.
That and they don't use "adblock".
...and battery doesn't suffer.
Yeah, cant wait for that.too bad for google apple is making its own search and using open street map as well
I think it is more of an assumption that ios is safer than android. Like osx is safer than winx. Probably less porn ads on ios too.

There's seriously porn ads on Android? That's news to me. I would find that incredibly annoying.
I've never seen a single porn ad in just under 2 years using Android. Dating services and crappy social networks, yes, but no porn ads.
Siri is the first step. at the very least they are going to direct the most lucrative searches to yelp and any other partners they sign up and the crap to google
Saw the rebuttal on this story already. Its because the iOS figures include all iPods, iPhones, and iPads released over their entire history. Android's first phone was released in October 2008, with the first one that sold in quantity in October 2009. But it wasn't until 2011 that Android took off. The bulk of Android's money was only made in a year.
And that number's still less than if you took just HTC Android models alone and combine them. All Android makers/models together would be 100 times more than Apple products.

But well, in general, it's true that iOS is safer than Android by a long shot. It doesn't help that Android is open-source and has a large install base.
But I'm more amazed by the fact that despite its larger install base, it doesn't rake in more money for Google.
I wonder how that affects Google's decision to work harder on improving the Android OS...

Or the screen of iPhones and iPods are so small that Apple users click on ads by accident with their fat fingers. I want to believe no one really clicks on ads on purpose regardless of platform.
Hasn't Android already surpassed iOS in terms of total number of devices sold? If that's the case, does it really matter when the devices were sold? I suppose it's possible that tablets generate more ad revenue for some reason and that the iPad skews the results. Otherwise, both platforms have been growing exponentially so that even though Apple had a 2 year head start, the revenue potential from that stretch of time should not result in such a large gap.
