Just wanted to open a little debate over the pros and cons between the major competing Mobile OS's since it seems Win OS and Symbian are pretty much on the way out.

I have owned both an iphone and android device and can honestly say I would never buy another apple product ever. Although they are fantastically engineered and flawlessly designed they are far too controlling as a company and I feel that they deprive their customers of some very basic functionallity all because the CEO is a bit of a nob lol.

So Poll Apple or Android - please dont vote if you dont have exp of both systems and in the interests of fairness to Android you have used Android 2.1 or higher.

The only way this thread isn't pointless is if all the argument stuff on other threads gets limited to here... which it won't.

Dude, just take 5 seconds and search through this forum. Apple vs. Android is discussed in almost every thread here.

Don't need to I know my opinion - just wanted to amalgamate the opinion of others in a poll.

Maybe this could be a sticky and it could at least try to be what you describe.

Where are the other OS's? There are more than just Android and Apple phones.

(disclaimer: I'm a Droid Incredible Owner)

Yeah there are but the others are imo now on the demise, although I do understand that winmo 7 has many many many users its defo a shrinking market. All other OS's just don't have a comparable functionality so its a little unfair to compare them despite the fact that they maybe in someone's opinion better than the ones mentioned.

i think youve basically hit on it yourself. if you want a polished device that works properly so you can get work done (90% of people) youre better off with ios. if youre in the 10% that wants extra features and performance and can stand lots of bugs like the texting bug then youll like android. for most people ios is the better choice for its reliability

So is THAT how it works? 10% of the people bought 30% of the smartphones last month! Oh and where did the 90% go? Im pretty sure 90% didn't buy iphones.

Of course, don't you know that Apple = No bugs, no issues...everything else is bug ridden and virus infected. :p;)

Unless of course you need to be somewhere on time in the morning :whiste:

I have no experience with iOS but I do have a Droid X. I bought mine the day they came out.. sometime in July. My complaints are caused by the crashing since 2.3 Gingerbread. This is not to blame 2.3 in full. Maybe its hardware related but I can honestly say I have crashed over 20 times (reboots) and have had apps magically open without my knowledge. And this is with the same apps as on 2.2

Currently I have dropped down to a dumb-phone to save on the data plan.

So you're complaining about a ROM you downloaded off the internet that some guy made that isn't an official update is not stable???

So since 2.3 is not out for the X you were using a hacked/user edited rom which comes with the disclaimer of "may cause your shit to go haywire" and you blame the OS?

My device said an update was available. Wouldn't it be official?

None of these symptoms happened in 2.2 and I haven't changed much since 2.1 I'm just narrowing things down and am in no way 100% sure. I'm guessing the RAM might be failing. I have had pictures not want to come up or that are just not viewable. Pictures that have been on my phone for a while.

System Version: 2.3.340.MB810
Android Version 2.2.1 - WTF? was it a minor update to 2.2?

Excuse me, maybe I am wrong on this.

I got the phone with 2.1 and it took forever to receive 2.2 Then I had another update.... could of swore it said 2.3

EDIT: regardless it crashes atleast 4-5 times a week
