The difference doesn't show in screenshots, unfortunately.

Unfortunately I couldn't see this option on my ipad mini 1.

You need a 64-bit processor (A7 or newer) for this to work. I don't think it actually requires 64-bit code -- my hunch is that Apple is starting to phase out 32-bit efforts.

I will note that on my iPad 2 the screen has a much brighter minimum brightness than on the iPad Air 2. I suspect the iPad mini is similar to the iPad 2 in that regard.

While colour balance is different from brightness, perhaps there is a hardware limitation there too, but either way, night time mode would be much less effective on the iPad 2 than on the iPad Air 2.

Another update calls the feature "Night Shift" and has a toggle in Control Center.

Yes, the minimum brightness on my mini 1 is not low enough for my tastes. At night I feel like it blinds me.

And yeah, its the 64 bit limitation that keeps night time mode away. Oh well, I'm still happy with how 9.3 public beta 2 runs on it.

Until (non jailbreak) gives me the option for system wide file access to kill iAds, change the ugly launch bar, unlimited pandora skips, custom youtube player with no ads whatsoever, you know basically everything one can get in cydia... There will always be a need to jailbreak! 9.3 is around the corner and when it goes live I'd expect Pangu or Taig to take care of business... Shifting the color temp after the sun goes down? Tried that with other devices and don't care for it. Give us the ability to have a DARK theme! Then again since lollipop, it seems like they are pushing these white themes everywhere. I hate it especially on AMOLED devices! Apple will eventually go AMOLED, it's long overdue. Of course they always seem to be two generations behind Android hardware in those areas. Cough - wireless charging - cough. ;)

Though adding Night Shift is nice for 9.3, I'm with you. I will continue to jailbreak my iOS devices!

I don't think I use any apps that have ads. I paid $0.99 to remove ads from the Ookla SpeedTest app a long time ago. I have iTunes Match, so no ads there (even in iTunes Radio, but I don't use that). Haven't used Pandora since I got iTunes Match.

I prefer the web version of YouTube in desktop mode and I refuse to install the app. As a bonus, the Purify content blocker eliminates all ads from YouTube.

My non-JB experience doesn't have any of those ad annoyances.
