IOS 9.2 released with problems?

I had read a few weeks ago that while large in file size it appeared mild in improvements and more of a solid base.

However I'm seeing headlines already saying it has "high profile" problems. Can Apple even make a stable release anymore?

No issues on my 6S or iPad Air that I'm aware of

Very interesting thing I saw on Macrumors that somebody said their old iPad 2 was revived by the 9.2 update. I have 2 of those, 1 my wife accidentally updated to ios8 which virtually killed it. But I also have my own (rarely used) which I left on ios7 and still can at least work reasonably. I'm tempted to give it a go on hers since it's just about come to a crawl anyway. Prolly can't get any worse.......(I think)

(shrug)

I lost all cellular connectivity with the update, huge pain in the ass. Apple ended up giving me a new phone (Apple Care).

iOS 9.2 has been a problem for the enterprise. It looks like it has made changes to the MDM/EMM API which is causing a host of issues for enterprises. 🙁

Yeah, it has been fun working with users and not being able to do anything thanks to the MDM being essentially busted.

I am guessing the OP is referring to this Forbes article given it also uses the term "high profile". (I am assuming that because I just don't see that term used much.)

The problem with reading the headline and not the article (not saying OP did that) is that it can be misleading. In this case the article simply refers to the large number of bugs that 9.2 admits to fixing.

If you are using 9.x you should probably upgrade to 9.2.

Wow, that's pretty bad. Did they have any explanation?

Not entirely, after 4 hours of my time spent with Apple and Verizon technical support and driving to the Apple Store, I didn't care much at that point. I received a follow up call the next day from Apple and they were pretty sure it was a problem on their back-end and that it was now resolved. He asked me to completely wipe my phone and do a fresh restore and not use a backup restore. Glad I got a replacement through AppleCare and didn't have to do that.

9.2 is slower than 9.2 betas and 9.1. 9.2 is about as slow as 8.2/8.3. 9.2 betas were like 8.4.

Also, the problems revealed are the ones 9.2 corrects. But 9.2 is significantly slower than 9.2 betas.

They make my iPhone 5s, iPad Air 1, iPad Mini 2 almost unusable with default settings.

Lots of effects etc need to be disabled to make them usable.

Does anyone have any links/evidence of the MDM issues? I have a high-profile customer that uses Airwatch for their iPhones, and I want to make sure first...

Really? We use MaaS360 and have updated most of our devices to 9.2, haven't had a single reported issue. Maybe it's just specific features that we don't happen to be using.

MDM issue

"This issue affects Microsoft Intune, and has been widely reported across multiple Mobile Device Management (MDM) providers."

Apple's response

If you are using AW hold off on the upgrade. Everything seems to be working normally with AW, however the recommendation is to wait until iOS 9.2.1, which will be released soon.
