What does 9.1 add besides emojis?

Fixes a Safari bug (mostly) that has been there since 8.4 and through 9.0. The bug caused the page above and below the area you are looking at not to display when you scrolled. It would be blank for several seconds before the page would render. Drove me up the wall, so much so that I'd switch to Chrome for some of the browsing sessions. Even happened on the iPad Air 2.

9.1 is also less laggy than 9.0. Still very slow on old hardware like the iPad 2, but better than before.

Middle finger emoji!

Also in iOS 9 when you leave an app directly to go to another app, up in the top left corner is a link to return you to the original app.

For example, if you are in Mail and the email you're reading has a web link, clicking the link will bring you to Safari as usual, but the top bar (where the time and battery icon are displayed) in the top left will have a link back to Mail. Clicking that will bring you back to Mail, to the exact email you were reading.

I noticed a cool parallax effect with the "(>)" icon as I flick through videos in my camera roll.

I always thought that was by design. It has been that way as long as I can remember (used to show a checkerboard pattern on my 3G).

Didn't even realize it was gone with iOS 9. Nice.

It's not gone, but it's not as bad now. I wonder though if it's because of faster rendering.

That isn't an issue in Chrome. In 8.4 and 9.0 I was using Chrome from time to time because this was driving me nuts. In 9.1 I'm back on Safari.

Note though, this is on an iPad Air 2, where I do most of my surfing.

BTW, IIRC, on the 3G it was different, wasn't it? The checkerboard was usually when something hadn't been rendered yet. However, once the whole page was rendered, then it wouldn't blank out like that. I don't remember this being a major issue in 7.1.3 on my iPad 2.

I always call that the "share" button.
Yeah, that's it.

Hmmmm. Strange.

My iPad Air 2 and my iPhone 5s are off by 2 minutes from one another for the time. Both are set to set the time automatically.

Same with my mini 2 and my 6 Plus. I've noticed that before. The iPad is on T-Mobile and the phone is on AT&T.

Probably happened after my trip past that black hole...

Time is relative, man! Whoa.

Hangouts just updated. I use it to send free text messages with my Google Voice number.

Well, now it won't load. It just keeps showing an error message: "Unable to load conversations."

OK. It finally started working while I was typing this :/

So, is this the correct way to upgrade to an iPhone 6s from an iPhone 5 running iOS 9.1 beta?

1. Backup iPhone 5 that has iOS 9.1 beta on it.
2. Set up iPhone 6s.
3. Install beta profile on iPhone 6s, and update it to iOS 9.1 beta.
4. Restore 5 backup to 6s.

Will this work? Or for the iPhone 5 do I need go back to the iOS 9 release version? I've never done a phone upgrade using iOS beta before.

I tried to submit feedback for a recent problem where I frequently can't get the magnifier to appear and can't move my insertion point while typing a post on this forum.

The Feedback application had logged me out. It won't let me log in at all right now, even after I rebooted my iPhone 6 Plus.

Excel is the current active app in the right pane, so its contents get shown in the side bar menu:

iOS 9.1 Public Beta 2 finally allows me WiFi calling (on Fido in Canada).

Wouldn't register for me initially, but after a couple of tries, it finally worked. You first have to enter an E911 address, which you have to remember to change if you go somewhere else. Luckily you can add multiple addresses if you want.

My device didn't notify my about 9.1 beta 2 until I manually checked for update. Probably has something to do with me wiping and restoring multiple times last night...

Apparently you can downgrade from 9.1 beta to 9.0 or 9.0.1 without losing data.

https://www.reddit.com/r/iphone/comments/3mbff4/psa_if_on_ios_91_beta_and_getting_iphone_6s/

Does the 6s come with 9.0 or 9.0.1?

I'm inclined to keep her on 9.1 beta though, since 9.1 beta is just better
