i thought 8.1.2 was a small update? i'm on 8.1.1 on my ipad and it shows 8.1.2 as a 1.2gb download (and 954MB on the iphone).

I've seen it be under 200MB on some devices. Others it's like what you're seeing.

I'm still on the last 7.x release. My plan is to back up my phone, wipe it and update through iTunes straight to 8.1.2.
