iOS 6.0.1 is up

For iPhone 5, you have to download an app to do an OTA update, or just plug it to iTunes...

Hope it takes care of my WiFi weirdness.

What kind of weirdness do you have?

The biggest bug I have right now is if I end a call and the Podcasts app is still active (not playing but still in memory), it'll play whatever podcast I was listening to. Hopefully they fixed this.

Anandtech also noted that the 6.1 beta is available now.

I assume that he's referring to how you are connected to a WiFi network, but it doesn't work (send or receive data). It happens to me at times, and it usually forces me to just disable WiFi and "fall back" to LTE. It's pretty random, so I normally leave WiFi on unless it screws up.

It'll connect to WiFi fine, will work for a while and then suddenly nothing loads. Someone did a test and said they were getting packet loss with WPA2 encryption while WPA or WEP worked as usual. Seems fixed in 6.0.1, but I'll have to use it more to make sure...

The Podcast thing is fixed from what I read on MacRumors.

I'm still using 5.1.1 on my 4S. Is it ok to update now or are there still issues, even after the patch? Naturally some are going to say of course I should update, but I'm still on the fence.

I just installed the update and it seems to have fixed WPA2 wifi issues and well as occasional lag issues throughout the phone.

I'd probably stay on 5.1.1 if I had a 4S. Nothing groundbreaking in 6 and the maps are better in 5.

If you're already on 6.0, then definitely get 6.0.1...

Thanks for the advice. I'll just stick with 5.1.1 for now. Can someone tell me if iOS6 supports seperate volumes for text and ring? It shoulds silly but this is something that Android does that I wish Apple would include.

I'm still on iOS 5; been holding out on 6 until YouTube updates their app for the iPad.

That is if they are planing to update it for iOS 6....

The update to Podcast I am downloading right now specifically addresses that issue. It also addresses the big problem I was having: played podcasts being marked as unplayed.

From what I've seen, 5.1.1 is far superior to iOS 6 just for the maps and built in youtube support alone. Somehow YouTube's own app sucks more than Apple's. In short, don't update.
