Ionic Wind - Chillin' the PC

Hello all,
I am happy to share with you our latest article which covers a new type of CPU cooling technology developed by Kronos and Intel and based on corona discharge effect.

This technology will potentially allow to cool down even the warmest CPUs/GPUs with 0db and with very small footprint and be much simpler then almost any existing cooling technology today (maybe apart from passive cooling).

Ionic Wind - Chillin' the PC - TFOT article.

We will be happy to hear your view on the subject.

in the words of Stephen Colbert, "I CALLED IT!"

Back in '01 or '02 i proposed this idea on these forums but got several responses about the dangers of "ozone buildup" within the case.

I wonder how they deal with that (is ozone buildup really a serious problem? lol) and how they overcame the technical challenges of generating enough airflow with a small system.

Interesting idea, but I'd like to see how much airflow it can generate. And, in the end, it's still "just air cooling". Not that that's a bad thing.

Probably as much as the Ionic Breeze air purifiers generate: ie: Almost no airflow at all.

Of course, almost no airflow is probably better than no airflow, and silence and small packaging might give it a place in some high end laptops, but unless it's dirt cheap to make and they post some figures indicating the difference it makes in dissipating heat, I am going to remain on the skeptical side of this one.

So is this like putting a passive heatsink on your CPU and place one of those pocket-size car ionic purifier next to the heatsink? good luck with that.
