Ionic Breeze makes noise even after cleaning

anyway, anyone have these things? I bought 2 about 6 months ago (non GP version), they work okay and you see enough gunk collected to be happy that its not inside your lungs or nose. but since about 2-3 months ago the unit makes noise ever right after i cleaned it. both machines are like that. they emit this low blowing noise (but louder than my PC) that is quite annoying. and they dont go off. they're on constantly.

i clean both the grids and the front/back grills regularly. what else could be making the noise???

I am an indoor air quality specialist...let me tell you about this...

The Ionic Breeze is actually a filter less air system, and uses positive and negative charges, attaches to dust, and drop it to the ground. It also creates ozone. Ozone is a lung irritant.

Last time I checked, when you filter/clean/purify anything, there are no byproducts, such as Ozone.

HEPA isn't all that great...not effective.

The only thing on the market now that actually works is the Defender, made by Health Mor Industries. It filters down to .1 micron. HEPA does down to .3 micron (20% of what?s in your air)

apparently your reading comprehension sucks too... apparently when consumer reports said Ionic Breeze is a peice of crap, you went and wasted your money.

do they sell "Defenders" at costco? I need to get one for a small room.

The wife and I were given an Ionic Breeze as a housewarming gift, we used it for a few months before we started smelling ozone. We eventually figured out the Ionic Breeze was making it and no amount of cleaning it would make it stop. We eventually just unplugged it. We started using Filtrete filters, and we change them every three months. It seems to keep the air clean enough for us.

I have an Ionic Breeze and after 6 or so months of use, it makes so much noise that it's no longer usable. Not only does the grid get dirty, but theres two long metal threads that run the length of it on the inside. You are supposed to turn it upside down and back again to clean these, but after a certain amount of time they pretty much become uncleanable. These are what cause mine to make noise. I read what you said, but sorry, Ionic Breeze sucks.

No, they don't sell them at Costco. The only way to get one is to contact Health Mor and have them come do a demonstration for you. Hard to believe that is the only way to get them, but it is.

Maybe I?m bias, as I work for Health Mor, but they sold me on the product, and I use it. My wife no longer snores and I am more rested at night. It has also almost eliminated our dusting.

They do cost a pretty penny...almost $1000. But they do come with a lifetime warranty, and as I said, they do work better than anything on the market. In fact, the FDA has classified them as a Class II Medical device. This means that with its use, you can actually increase your lifespan.

More info on the product can be found here.

obw: does their lifetime warranty mean they get me a new unit if the unit goes bad or whateever

With filter replacement, yes.

Two filters.

Charcoal (gets rid of odors and gasses) is $20, every 6 months.
MEDI (bacteria, small particles) is $130, every year.

Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Every penny.

All the ionic breeze does is create ozone, and now that it has an ozone remover built in, it doesn't even make the air bad anymore. It just doesn't do anything.

But the Ionic Breeze does suck and CR agrees.

HEPA filter which actually moves and filters air > hype

I have one of these in my bedroom and it only makes noise when it gets really filthy. Cleaning it makes it silent again.

I think it's a decent product. The amount of ozone it puts out is minimal and insignificant... mister "I'm an air quality expert" is talking out of his butt. It definitely filters stuff out of the air I would prefer didn't end up in my lungs. 😉

I am intrigued with that "Defender" air filter though... it never hurts to have the air you breathe too clean.

I disagree.

Apple makes awesome products but they're just overpriced.

The Ionic Breeze is both overpriced and sucks.
