I have only owned 2 Iomega products: a tape back-up device from about 5 years ago and a Zip drive. Both were pieces of utter junk. When they actually worked, I had to always verify the backup and without fail there would be several files with errors.

Needless to say, I won't be buying an Iomega DVD writer or any other Iomega product ever again.

Yes I also would not go with any Iomega product. I've enver owned one first hand, but from after seeing and hearing about people's experiences with them, I do not trust their products.

I doubt Iomega "makes" it, dont they just rebadge all their other CD products?

1) As somebody already said, Iomega doesn't make its own DVD drives.

2) My zip drives have all been fine. I've had five or six in different machines.

At home and at work I've had 4 Zip drives and one Iomega CDRW. All have worked flawlessly for their entire life.

Dunno if Iomega actually makes it, I have a 12x4x32 CDRW from Iomega and it's nothing but a Sanyo drive. I've actually flashed it with a Sanyo firmware to get some newer features the Iomega firmware didnt support.
