Iomega ScreenPlay 1TB vs WD Live TV Hub 1TB?

Found a deal I couldn't pass up, for half the price of the WD Live TV Hub I got the Iomega ScreenPlay MX2 instead ($100 vs $200 for the WD).

Do both manage multimedia files just as well as the other? My main concern is playing MTS and M2TS files on the fly.

How are the user interfaces for each unit, are they user friendly?

Anybody actually tried opening up the Iomega ScreenPlay? I might consider taking the HD out of it if I can, but couldn't manage to find out how to open the outer casing. It has USB so I can just simply plug and play my external USB hard drive to it whenever I need to, easier than transferring from one external USB device to the internal HD.

Wow, pretty disappointed with the output quality of the movie files. All my MTS and M2TS files look like crap, the color is so washed out, lots of digital noise, so grainy.

Guess I'll have to return this and try the WD Live TV instead.

I think it would be wise to solicit user feedback prior to buying lots of things.

I'm pleased with my AppleTV 2, jailbroken and running XBMC. I think this because I can update it, and I can switch to Plex (or other future media renderers) at a moment's notice. I paid about $90, plus about 1 hour of work to set it up with jailbreaking and installing XBMC v11.0 beta 1 via the commandline.

I'm pleased with my Boxee Box. I paid about $160.

For a (much, much) more spartan interface, the Patriot Box Office still works just fine, thanks. It browses SMB shares perfectly, and renders everything (MKV, MTS, M2TS, MPG, AVI, etc., etc.) flawlessly. I think they're $40 on sale, or $80 or so normally, when they're still for sale.

My Iomega ScreenPlay DX is perfect for what I use it for. PLays every file format I've thrown at it with flawless playback and killer audio out.
Does have cons though:
*No fast forward/rewind on .mkv files.
*Interface is a bit cheesy..
*Wirelss is a joke when playing off home server, WIRED is great!
*Red LED light is BRIGHT AND LARGE.. DUmb I know but it can't be left in a bedroom.
*No Amazon although Netflix is great.

I have a WD box and it's quality is fine. Plays everything I've thrown at too. To me the live hub is overpriced that's what you pay for a built in HD.
