Iomega/Plextor firmware problems.......... HELP!!

I am having troubles updating the firmware on my Iomega 1210A. I have renamed the drive using a utility I found on here, but the Plextor firmware download still doesn't update the drive. The original firware is version 1.03. I have tried Plextor versions 1.04, 1.05, 1.07 and 1.08. Thought perhaps there was a problem updating directly to 1.08, but none of them will work on my machine. The 1210A is master, Creative DVD is slave on the secondary IDE of my MB. Any thought would be appreciated. Thanks.

I had a similar problem, and got this reply from Plextor's customer support:

We've seen some motherboards that don't allow the drive to be detected properly. Please try updating your aspi layer by downloading and installing aspi32.exe from http://www.adaptec.com/support/files/upgrades.html Please ignore the warnings that Adaptec has there... the file is the correct one for your system. If that doesn't install, then run the attached file first. (BigEd, please email me if you want this file)

If that all doesn't allow the firmware updater to find the drive, then please try the updater on the Plextor Europe website:

Let us know how you make out here, and we appreciate you working with us as we delve into this issue.

BigEd, try this site. Click on "How to update your Iomega / Creative / TDK drive using Plextor Firmware".

Scroll down to "The March 1, 2001 Firmware update procedure". I was unable to upgrade my Iomega also, until I followed this procedure. Worked like a charm.

This site may help also. His procedure is much more involved.
