Caveat:

<< Staples.com offers a rebate and after the rebate Staples.com's price beats the competition, no price guarantee will be given. You will be getting the lowest final cost by shopping at Staples.com. (For example, if Staples.com's price is $89.99 before a $30.00 rebate then your final cost is $59.99. If the competitor price is $84.99 without a rebate, there will be no price match.) >>

I think I've heard of people getting pricematches and still using the rebate, but if they decide to "accidentally" forget to include the rebate price when they charge your credit card (as they've been known to do), you may have to suck the $40 up.

Can you use the tech*Bargain staples coupon codes in the store? Also is there a way to PM stuff online @staples?

What do you guys think of this drive? Is it a quality drive? I thought it was a pretty hot deal but doesn't seem like many people are jumping on this. Whats the deal?

Well good try with the review link. It didn't work but was enough to help me find it. The drive looks like a good deal. I think I am going to do it. Do you just call and say price match X site...and they go and find it on tat site? or what? where do I find the coupon code for staples?

:eek::frown:

I have this drive right now, I paid $125 after rebate in August. The drive will do a good job if your computer is anything faster than a Pentium 166MMX. This drive will not burn at 8x with 700MB media. It'll slow to 2x no matter what. However, with any 650 media, it burns very well. But you can't do anything when it's burning, unless you want a coaster.

yepyep, just call and tell them the product number. then say that onvia has the same thing for less. they will go to onvia (i can hear they typing) and make sure..then you get put on hold while they verify. finally they come back and ask for billing info.

word of advice: pricematch first, then ask to include coupon.

my friend tried it, but said "i want the drive pricematched and i have a coupon as well" and got the "only after all discounts will we pricematch if its still higher" treatment.

Couldn't agree more. First Pricematch and then tell them about the coupon.
I buy from them all the time. My word of advice: Be nice to them and they will be nice to you!!
good Luck

Is this true about 700's making it drop down to 2X? If so that would suck. It is hard for me to believe this is the case. Does anyone else know anything about this drive? I want to get it but not if 700's burn at 2X. I burn at 2X now.there would be no point.

I have the iomega 4/4/24 drive. It's a pretty good drive... mine was the first cdrw model iomega made. Not bad at all. However, i do get coasters once in a while. It does have 2MB buffer so I can still surf I had some 80 min cd's that weren't compatible, but i got a firmware upgrade from the iomega site and don't remember getting a problem since. For this drive, i can still burn 80 min cd's at 4x, so i imagine they shouldn't be a prob for the 8/4/32. I got it over a year ago for $150. I'm very happy this drive!! This deal does look hot though...! Good luck people.

On the Iomega site it talks about some feature on the drive where if it thinks it will get a buffer underrun for whatever reason it will drop the write speed back automatically on the fly in order to save the burn.

just got my zipcd today. Was pretty easy to install and seems to work fine.
Took me abt 15 mins to burn a CD. Is this normal for a 8x.
The iomega customized adaptec is pretty nifty too.

tks again for the deal.

I just called Staples and yes they are out of them and they said they do not take orders while the item is out of stock and that assuming this is a tpical item they will have more in 7-10 days. And then I can place the order with them. I think 15 minutes for an 8X drive is a little much unless this is a 700 meg disk, then it sounds a little better. If you figure it at 1200 kb per second with a meg being 1024 kb. Then it should take somewhere in the neighborhood of 600 seconds which is 10 minutes plus two minutes for writing the table of contents. Which comes to 12 minutes give or take a minute. You are saying two minutes onger than that. So I am wondering if it dropped down to 6X at some point. Can you try a 700 disk and let us know the results. Asuming what you did try was not a 700 disk. thanks
