Iomega Cd-R not working *refurbished*

I bought a refurbished Iomega Cd-R from JandR.com and the first cd that burns worked good. The second cd I tried to burn stopped at 83%, i think because i accidently loaded up another program, after then, It cannot burn no more, It will say like initializing burn but just sits there, i can hear little noise coming out of it as if he is trying to read/write, but it doesn't. also the blank cd that it tries to burn is still useable.
Is there something I can try to test what's wrong or fix it? It is internal 8X4X32, Iomega zipcd650

I can't return it because i used flooz to purchase it and they are out of business and i can't send it anywhere cause i lost the receipt/warrenty thing.

What burning software are you using? Try uninstalling it and then reinstalling...

I had the same problem with my Zip cd also, (same one 8x4x32) Iomega sent a replacement which didn't work so I had to get a second one. That one worked but then I upgraded to Win XP Pro and had more difficulty. It sounds as though it could be the burner software. I tried CDRWIN from Golden Hawk and it worked well with that drive. (www.goldenhawk.com) They have a free demo you can try to see if that works. Godd luck....
