iomega 250 slow?

Just wondering i was writing about 50megs to a 100meg iomega zip disk in a 250 internal ide zip drive and it took forever to write these files. Also after it was done writing the activity light on the drive stayed on untill i went to shut down windows xp and then it poped the disk out and xp froze up.

I seriosly doubt this has anything to do with the system because it is working perfectly amd fx, 1 gig ram, high quality psu, etc. Anyone else ever had these kinds of problems using a zip 250 internal drive ?

seemed to have goten a little bit beter when i installed the iomega drivers and software and didnt use the default ones that ms provides with xp.

why use ZIP when CDRW is prolly faster and cheaper?

I wondered the same heh. It realy wasnt my choice since my dad wanted a zip drive installed in this comp since he uses it for backing up some stuff.
