To start - I just did this today, and worked. I hope it works for everyone else also, although I don't see why not. But I've heard how Staples likes to screw people over when it comes to big PM's and coupons.

Staples has it (item#31236) for 199.90
CompUSA has it for 149.99

The game plan:
PM at Staples with CompUSA
Use 20 off 100 coupon found here, which IS good at the B&M store.
149.99
-20.00 coupon
-------------
129.99
+10.72 CA state tax
-------------------
140.71

I think this is better than:
Circuit City:
PM to 149.99
+12.37 CA state tax
-------------------
162.36
-30.00 MIR
+0.33 Stamp
+0.10 envelope
+0.20 for copy of info for MIR
------------------------------
132.99
+3 month wait for MIR check (and hoping they don't mess up and not send you one at all)
---------------------------
How much is your time worth??

I think the 7.71 difference is worth it for the instant price and not worrying about the MIR coming through.

Good luck everyone;)

P.S. - Don't forget to pick up your free after-instant-rebate gamepad:0

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that you have to bring in a printed page of the coupon I mentioned above. You can't just write down the code, walk in, and say, "Hey, here's my 20 off 100 code"! - won't work.

Can't find it on staples website with the number you gave. How did you find it?

It's not an online deal, hence the B&M in the title. They used to have it on the online store, but I guess they got so screwed with PMing and 40 off coupons over the Thanksgiving weekend that they pulled it from their web line. Luckily for us, CompUSA is having it for 149.90 again this week.

You might try getting Staples online to PM this and use the $40 off $150 coupon after adding some cheap pens or something. That's essentially how I got my two, but I did it at a B&M that takes online codes.

The reason why I think they will give us a hard time with this deal is because:
During Thanksgiving:
They were selling it for 249.99
Online community:
PMed it to 149.90 with (I think) Best Buy
-40 off 150 online coupon code
-----------------------
110.00
A 140.00 loss for them on this item, and boy did we anandtechers jump on this!!

Currently:
they are selling it for 199.90
-49.91 for PM
-20 coupon
---------------
129.99
about a 70.00 loss (again) for them on just one item. They'll try to BS their way out of the coupon by saying they can't combine coupons with a PM, but just ask them to show you where it says so in their policy. They won't, cause they can't, since it says nothing about this in their policies, either online or B&M. You'll just have to be persistent, talk in a very controled voice (don't act shy or seem nervous), and have an "I'm getting this deal because I know I'm right about your stupid policies" attitude.

BTW - the 20 off 100 coupon is courtesy of Jamey, whom I hope I can have the pleasure of calling friend for sending me the e-mail.

Methos is correct, but I would still try the online deal first, then fall back on the B&M. $20 is $20. Thanks for the credit Methos.

I actually received an email for $25 off $100 at staples.com or b&m to make this deal a little better for those who couldnt get the drive elsewhere. it expires 12/31/00 and you need to bring in a copy of the email just as methos said. i dont know how to post the coupon, but i suppose ican email it if you want it. $125 plus tax out-the-door for this drive is still a good deal.

Haha, I just did this deal myself before I read this post. I priced match with compusa for $129, add $0.99 stuff and used the $40 off $150 coupon for a total of $110 at a B&M store, used my instore credits. Will sell this to Egay since I already got a TDK Velo, (OR maybe return to St@ples for $200 in store credit, hehe. So I will get $90 free instore credits for 5 min of work, maybe I can even do it a second time)

I bought this drive I downloaded winflash and the flash from the Sanyo wab site but when I run winflash it won't recognise the flash it looks for a file *.bin but the flash [BIOS?] is named bp90_327. Should I rename it bp90_327.bin or do I have the wrong file?

I just returned from a Bust'in Staples raid.

I got 3 of these using NJ Turnpike 25 off coupons, (they are on the back of the Turnpike receipts)

Then I used a 30 off on Sony CDR's 50 pack for 24.99 with a 15 off MIR. I added 2 Christmas CD's for $5.00 (Elvis and the Beach Boys)and a pack of gum (the rubberbands were too far away!).

The manager and I are on a first name basis. I use cash always at the BM. How long can Staples stay in buisness? We all should send them Christmas cards...

Oops, edit your post before the moderator sees it and bans you from anandtech. Several people were banned for getting hot deals on DVDs then taking them in to another store and getting money back. Or, well, they weren't banned for it, they were banned for talking about it here...

If your gunna do it(which I strongly recomend against because, essentially, you are making stuff more expensive for everyone else) don't brag about it here..
