iomega 12/4/32 not compatible with easy creator after firmware upgrade???

is there another way i can make cds ?When using the creator that came with the iomega that my drive freezes... however when i use it for other stuff as like cdclone it works... any solutions?

I would try flashing the firmware again. Maybe it didn't flash right.

I flashed mine to 3.27 Sanyo firmware..... but I havent tried the Adaptec software. I just use CDRWin, Nero, and CDClone. Iomega may have moded the software so that it only works with the Iomega drive... and although the Iomega drive is a Sanyo BP900 Iomega mods the firmware, and since the new Firmware is Sanyo, the software may think it is not a Iomega drive. Of corse this is pure speculation because I have no idea if Iomega moded the software

i took back the drive at staples and exchanged it for another thinking it was the drive ...so before the "upgrade" i was able to make a cd ... however after the "upgrade"yet again the same problem.... it freezes in the middle of writing .... any CD music apps reccomendations..? I have to have DAO and subchannel reading...

I just looked on Iomega's site. They don't have the old firmware so that you can flash it back. It sounds like an issue for iomega techsupport. They probably have a bad firmware file on thier website. Personally I would take the drive back and get your money back, and buy a better drive. I've never been impressed with any of iomega's products. They have a high failure rate on thier zip and jazz drives.

Catch try using Nero.... it works fine. Its just EZ CD Creator.... it wont work with the new firmware.... BTW who said this is a Iomega problem.... this isnt a offical Firmware.... its Sanyos firmware since they make the drive. But any other software works fine.... CloneCD... CDRWin... Nero.

Thats for the 4x$ drive not the 12x4.... also catch I just tried something.... even with the original version of EZ CD Creator it works fine for me.... so the only thing I thought of that I changed was the APSI layer.... try using this and it should work

Dulanic, I already have the aspi. I used the aspi to get the winflash to work.... However, i do get a message when I boot up saying that I have an older version of windows dil.. then it says i can choose ok or ignore either way i get the same results..

*sigh* dulanic, The patch update for the software bundle is an older version (june 2000) ez creator mine is july 2000... However, there is an upgrade for type of ez creator 4.02e . mine is 4.02c... The bad news is with the patch 4.o2e it still freezes up...


So where is this Nero? is it as easy as ez creator?

Hummm weird cause mine works perfectly fine.... is Nero as easy as EZ CD Creator? No because Adaptec is like the AOL of all CDR software.... Nero is from www.nero.com.... I live by Nero I like it so much more.

usually, that is what happens, that is, update of (any) burning programs is needed after firmware upgrade.

i just picked up the burner from my local Staples yesterday, and i brought it home, and it didnt work in Nero, and i didnt really want to use EZ CD Creator (its like the soccer moms burning program), so i upgraded the firmware and tried Nero, no luck. Then I got desperate and used EZ CD creator, it worked fine, burned fine at 12x. But does anyone know how to fix the problem in Nero i have? If anyone has the same problem or knows the answer to it, please tell me.

Ya everything works fine for me.... Nero 5.0.3.1... EZ CD Creator 4.02C... CloneCD 2.8.3.1.... They all work. The ONLY issue is with Clone CD... if you try to read Sub Channel data you need to set the read speed to 32X instead of MAX... and about 1 out of 5 tries it will say it cant read it but you just try again and it works. I can write at 12X with all of them. Lets see... to install I installed the APSI layer.... then Nero... Then Clone CD... then EZ CD Creator (just to test it for you). I flashed with the 3.27 Sanyo firmware. Everything is perfectly ok..... Do you have Burn Proof on your drive? The originally used a Plextor drive without burn proof.... but then they switched to the Sanyo with Burn Proof.... so if you dont have burn proof that may be the problem.
